A pipeline network located in Arepo, an Ogun State community that shares a border with Lagos, South-West Nigeria has been engulfed by fire after a deadly explosion.
The number of dead and (or) injured victims in the mishap is yet to be declared. Unconfirmed report, however, put the casulaty figure at 10.
Residents in the community, who witnessed the misfortune revealed in an interview that about scores lost their lives to the inferno.
They expressed worries that it was not the first time vandals had carried out criminal activities around the pipeline network.
They added that matters may be worse as the private security outfit saddled with protecting the pipelines had been withdrawn.
After the fire incident, the supply of petroleums product through the pipeline network in Arepo was shut down.
Government authorities said the suspension of supply was to suffocate the fire which consumed the pipeline, owing to the activities of suspected vandals.
The supplies will resume as soon as the damaged line is fixed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
