The International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety) has challenged the Department of Security Services (DSS) to publicly produce Mr. Gordon Obua, former Chief Security Officer to immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, as that is the only way to prove that he is still alive.
Mr. Obua has been denied access to his lawyers, family and his doctors since Thursday, July 16, 2015, when he was thrown into an underground dungeon at the National Headquarters of the DSS in Abuja. He was reportedly arrested on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari
for undisclosed reasons.
Unconfirmed reports this morning said the senior DSS official died few hours ago.
“We just hope this is not true,” Board Chairman Emeka Umeagbalasi told News Express this morning.
Umeagbalasi insisted that “authentic confirmation of this story should not come from the DSS, but from his family and lawyers. This is because Nigerian public institutions are infested with leprousy of falsehood.”
“Let the management of DSS address a press conference alongside the man. That is the only way to convince the world that he is still alive,” the Intersociety Board Chairman added.
