INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmoud Yakubu
By PAMELA EBOH, Awka
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be an impartial umpire by giving all the candidates a level playing ground devoid of malpractices.
Addressing journalists at a press conference in Awka, the Anambra State Chairman of PFN, Bishop Moses Ezedebego, advised the electoral umpire to resist the temptation of being used by anyone to rig election.
He described monies earned from rigging election as blood money, adding that it will end up bringing generational curses to the people involved.
Ezedebego announced that PFN has concluded arrangement to stage her annual Day/Prayer Rally for the nation, as well as for a peaceful conduct of the November 6 governorship election in the state.
According to him, the prayer rally which the National president, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, is expected to attend will hold on September 17, 2021.
The PFN state chairman explained that the event will showcase and strengthen the Body of Christ with all her members across the 179 communities in attendance.
He said: “PFN has set up a committee for good governance headed by Dr Amaechi Nwachukwu to galvanise and ensure good representation of people.
“Our members have been mobilised to arm themselves with voters’ cards to vote for candidates of their choice.
“We need a governor for everybody, someone that will carry everybody along. We are praying for the right candidate to take over Anambra State.”
While urging the electorate to guard their votes and resist any form of rigging, Ezedebego advised candidates to conduct their campaign without violence but rather adhere to issue-based campaign.
