President Muhammadu Buhari will be heading for the United States of America today with an entourage of 33, including his son, Yusuf.
The trip will last four days, with the high point being bilateral talks between the Nigerian President and his host, US President Barack Obama.
The festering Boko Haram terrorism in Nigeria and neighbouring countries is expected to dominate the talks along with bilateral trade relations.
Buhari and his entourage are scheduled to touch down at the Joint Base Andrews Airport, Washington DC, to kick-start the visit to the United States.
“Apart from getting a brief on the visit from Nigeria’s Ambassador to the US Professor Ade Adefuye and his team, Buhari will have a private dinner with Madeline Albright former US Secretary of State after settling down at the historic Blair House in Pennsylvania Avenue, the first time a visiting Nigerian leader would be so honoured,” one report said.
It added that the Nigerian leader will tomorrow be officially welcomed at the White House starting with a breakfast meeting of five at the Naval Observatory, the official residence of the US Vice President Senator Joe Biden.
The Blair House breakfast meeting is restricted to five people, namely. President Buhari, his host Senator Biden, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State; immediate past Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State; Ambassador Ade Adefuye; and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
