Enugu APC chieftain Hycienth Ngwu
By CHARLES IWUOHA
Chief Hycienth Ngwu, former South-East Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has lauded the peaceful and rancour-free ward congresses held within Enugu South Local Government Area.
Ngwu gave the commendation while speaking with journalists after he supervised a successful congress in his Enugu South LGA Ward 1 held earlier today, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Amechi Primary School.
He said that reports from various wards monitored in the council showed that each ward adopted an internally harmonised ward executive as well as local and state congresses delegates list.
According to Ngwu, APC is showing the light to other political parties on how congresses should be done and the people are happy with the outcome without any dissenting voice.
“Most of the leaders and members of wards within the council were able to come to agree on a harmonised list made up of serious party faithful that can deliver the needed winning votes during elections.
``It was done rancour-free and what you see here today is internal democracy and people-oriented party leadership in action,” he said.
Ngwu, who is the leader of the party in the council area, said that “with the unity of purpose the party faithful achieved in the ward congresses, we are ready to take over the council politically”.
“The newly elected APC executive of the various wards in the council area should build on this unity and mobilise the entire council for APC come 2023 General Elections and other elections,” he said.
At the congress in Enugu South LGA Ward 1 (in Amechi Awkunanaw), Mr Ikechukwu Eneh and Mr Nnaji Nwigwe emerged Chairman and Vice-Chairman respectively; while Mr Moses Amechi emerged Secretary, all through unanimous voice vote of YES.
Other 24 elective positions, which included four ex-officios, followed suit with a unanimous and unopposed voice vote of YES as well.
Eneh thanked the party faithful for turning out en mass, conducting themselves in a peaceful and rancor-free manner that led to the success of the congress in the ward.
He said: “I am assure you all that the newly elected executives will work hard to ensure dominance of the party at all political elections in all polling booths in the ward.
“We are going to set-up polling booth committees, as our leader Ngwu had advised, to ensure that APC wins in each polling booth in the ward henceforth.
“No stone will be left on turned in achieving this.”
