Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, was yesterday afternoon granted bail on self recognition.
He is to deposit his travel documents with the Deputy Registrar of the Federal High Court for onward transfer to Kano.
His two sons and a fourth accused person were, however, admitted to bail on the condition that they provide two sureties each in the sum of 25 million naira.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Mr Lamido alongside his two sons, Aminu and Mustapha, over graft allegations.
Last week he was denied bail by a Federal High Court which ordered that he and his two sons be remanded in Kano prison.
The former governor and his two sons were flown to Kano after being picked up in Abuja to face a 24-count charge bordering on money laundering and related offences.
However, his counsels approached the vacation judge in the Abuja Federal High Court to hear the bail application.
He had surrendered himself to the commission at the end of his tenure on June 15.
Before then, his two sons had earlier been arrested in Kano and flown to Abuja in November 013 while their father was still the Jigawa State Governor.
The travails of the Lamidos began in 2012 when Aminu was arrested by operatives of the EFCC at Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, for failing to declare a sum of $40,000.
The former governor was arraigned alongside his children for allegedly receiving N1.351 billion kickback from a government contractor. (Channels TV)
