A 27-year-old man was yesterday nabbed by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly killing his step brother with a machete.

News Express gathered that Mr. Chijioke Nwenyi, from Umuohi Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State killed Gregory during a fight.

Reports have it that when the security officials visited the area on the day of the incident, they found the deceased lying in the pool of his own blood.

However, the body of the late Gregory was later deposited at the Okija General Hospital by the police.

Similarly a middle-aged man, Tochukwu Maduekwe from Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state is on the run following the alleged murder of a tenant of his father and is being hunted by the state police command.

An eye witness, who spoke on anonymity, said that 20-year-old Maduekwe stabbed the tenant, David Anukenyi (42), following a squabble with his father over electricity bill brought by Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.

“The deceased was rushed to Iyienu general Hospital, Ogidi, where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” the witness said.

The matter was reported at the Ogidi Divisional Police Station by the deceased's younger brother, Chijioke Anukenyi.

Both cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Uche Ezeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), when contacted yesterday confirmed the incidents, saying that investigations into the cases by the command were ongoing.
