Tragedy struck yesterday in Awka, the Anambra State capital, as a trailer crushed a family of six at Finotel junction along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
According to Mr. Ikechukwu Okafor, an eye witness who spoke to News Express, the trailer lost control and fell on a car conveying a family of six killing four on the spot, including their parents.
Saddened by the development, Governor Willie Obiano has undertaken to pay all medical bills to be incurred by the surviving duo who are receiving treatment at Anambra State University Teaching Hospital, Amaku.
Expressing his condolence for the lives lost, Obiano assured Ndi Anambra that he would ensure safety of lives by regulating the movement of heavy duty vehicle within the state.
Efforts to speak with two survivors that where admitted at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital was denied by the hospital officials who said they cannot be seen for questioning yet until they recuperate.
