The Federal Government has been urged to evolve a comprehensive security strategy to combat terrorism in the country.
A Public Affairs Analyst, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, made this appeal in an interview with newsmen on Friday in Ilorin, Kwara capital.
According to him, this should be supported with special counter-terrorism training for the armed forces to enable them combat the unconventional war being carried out by insurgents.
Ibrahim also called for improved security surveillance in all public places, while efforts should be geared towards giving adequate attention to internally displaced persons in the war-engulfed region.
The one-time national vice president, National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations of Nigeria, however, attributed the trend to bad leadership, neglect of rights and qualitative education, bad orientation and porous borders.
He, therefore, advocated compulsory qualitative education for the people in the region and a strategic long-term plan to quell the disturbing situation.
Ibrahim, who said prayer was also imperative in such a situation, urged the Muslim Ummah to use the last days of the Ramadan to intensify prayers for a lasting solution to insurgency in the country. (NAN)
