Daddy Showkey
Veteran galala singer, John Asiemo, professionally known as Daddy Showkey, has disclosed why he always performs on stage without his tops.
According to the ghetto dance steps creator, poverty was the root cause of why he started out performing bare bodied.
He also said that up till this very moment, he has not produced the video clip of his first album titled “Ghetto Soldier”, but coincidentally it was the album that brought him to limelight and changed his entire life.
In a post he made on his Instagram page on Thursday, the Delta State-born entertainer said performing without shirts, which has become his trademark, was never planned but was circumstantial as a result of lack.
“What led to my not putting on clothes on stage was thatI had a show then (at the beginning of his musical career). I went to my friend to borrow me a shirt so that I could use it to go to the show. My friend started posting me – come today come tomorrow. On the day of the show, I had no choice but to go without a shirt and people liked the show without a shirt. You can’t believe it. Few years later, I took (that) my friend to a boutique and bought him half of the boutique,” he narrated.
On video clip of the song that brought him to limelight he said: “You can’t believe it, till today, I did not shoot a video for this song, but believe it or not, this is the song that changed my life.”
