Confusion is the order of the day as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) moves to elect two candidates in the search for its flagbearer for the November 6, 2021 governorship election.
At the moment the party is holding two primary elections at different venues.
While the faction of the sacked chairman of the party, Ndubisi Nwobu, is holding its accreditation at the Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre, the faction led by Chukwudi Umeaba which is loyal to the self acclaimed godfather of Anambra politics, Chris Uba, is holding its event at Paul University, Awka. The Umeaba group minutes ago declared Chris Uba’s brother, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, as its governorship candidate.
Meanwhile, almost all the party’s screened and approved aspirants are at Prof. Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre for the primary election.
A PDP Anambra source who pleaded anonymity said that some members of the party are already watering grounds that will enable them go to court to contest the election of a candidate from any faction not favourable to them.
He added: “Most of the aspirants you see in the other faction also belong to this faction.
“Some of the aspirants are waiting to pick the ticket of one faction, and when they can’t, they will still come here. This disunity is not good for our party.”
