Akwa Ibom Govt. renames major road after Mary Slessor, another after Revd. Samuel Bill

The Government of Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria, has renamed two major roads in Uyo, the state capital, after two renowned early gospel missionaries in the country.

A statement released late on Sunday in Uyo and signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Etekamba Umoren, announced that Itu Road has been renamed Mary Slessor Road, while Uruan Street will henceforth be known as Revd. Samuel Bill Street.

The statement directed “members of the public to take note as the changes take immediate effect.”
