Wife of the former Acting Governor of Bayelsa Mrs Martha Nestor Binabo, abducted on June 30, yesterday regained her freedom after her relations parted with N8.2 million.
A family source, who wished to be anonymous, said that the woman was handed over to a negotiator at Buguma area of Rivers in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the source, the family complied with the kidnappers warning not to involve the Police, she was released with a transport fare of N18,000 and a big fish.
The kidnappers reportedly told their victim to prepare pepper soup for her husband with the fish.
Police Public Relations Officer of Bayelsa State Command, Astimin Butswat, who confirmed the development, said the command is yet to get full details on her release.
“Five unknown gunmen dressed in military camouflage uniforms, went to the premises of Seleyibo Multi-Global Company LTD, at Agbura, in Yenagoa LGA on Monday.
“They called the director of the company one Madam Martha Nestor Binabor, aged 48, outside the company's gate for a talk.
“Consequently, they forced her into an ash coloured Toyota Camry Car, Reg No. unknown, Chasis No. JTDBE32K620105302, and drove to Otuokpoti Sand Dump in Ogbia LGA.
“They set the Toyota Camry Car ablaze, took the victim into a waiting speedboat and sped off to an unknown destination,” the PPRO said.
