A male suicide bomber today killed five people at the Redeemed Christian Church in Potiskum, Yobe State, North-East Nigeria.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin, confirmed the incident. He was quoted by Channels TV as saying: “A male suicide bomber at about 10 O’clock this morning detonated a bomb at the Redeemed Church Jigawa area in Potiskum, killing five persons including, the suicide bomber.”
The Police PRO also said another female worshiper in the church was seriously injured in the attack and is being attended to at the Potiskum General Hospital.
Hospital authorities who pleaded anonymity said five bodies were brought there from the scene and that one other woman who sustained serious injury at the scene is receiving treatment.
The mini Redeemed Church is located west of Potiskum town along Jos Road.
