Ahead of the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, the ruling party in the state, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced June 23 as the date for the conduct of its primary election.
An election guideline signed by APGA’s National Organising Secretary, Mr. Ifeanyi Mbaeri, indicated that the sale of nomination forms will start on May 25 and end June 8.
The screening of prospective governorship aspirants will be conducted at APGA National Secretariat Abuja on June 10, while resolution of appeals arising from the screening is to be held at the same venue on June
According to the guideline, N2m has been pegged for Expression of Interest forms and N20m for Nomination forms.
The party however said female aspirants and aspirants living with disabilities would be granted 50% discount of the total amount.
The guideline said the National Working Committee (NWC) will meet on June 27 to ratify the party’s governorship candidate for the Anambra governorship election.
It added that a special ward congress for election of ad hoc delegates in the 326 wards in Anambra State has been scheduled for June 15, while June 23 was picked for special state congress/primary election in Awka, Anambra state.
The guideline also fixed June 25 for resolution of appeals and disputes arising from the primary, to be held at APGA National Secretariat Abuja.
