The controversial marriage between multiple award winning movie director, Tchidi Chikere, and his actress wife Nnuela Njubigbo, may be facing turbulent times.

Rumour was rife past few weeks that the marriage, formalised in 2018 and which has produced a daughter, has hit the rocks.

The rumour was based on the fact that the 46 years old Mbaise, Imo State-born film director and his Anambra State-born wife had unfollowed each other on their Instagram accounts.

This incident was preceded by an earlier report that

the marriage of the duo “is currently on the rocks but the two pretend on social media as if they were living the best of their lives.”

According to the report, the Theatre Arts graduate from the University of Calabar has turned his wife into a punching bag.

The report also claimed that his 37 years old wife who studied Government and Public Administration at Imo State University, has been confiding in some colleagues about her marital problems.

The unfollowing of each other on Instagram actually fuelled the strong rumour of their break up.

But on Monday, at about 2pm, Tchidi shocked observers of their marriage when he posted a video clip on his Instagram page in which both of them were lying in bed together, ostensibly at day break.

The two were discussing and hubby said: “It’s crazy. So I should be following you about on Instagram.”

Although the video seemingly put paid to the break up rumour, but many of his fans swear the astute filmmaker is turning their marriage into make believe, just like his movies.

They claim he might just have arranged for that video clip as an opportunity to neutralise the rumour of their break up, or how does one explain the video recording of their intimate discussion right inside their bedroom, more so when they were yet to get up from bed that early morning. Who did the recording and why?

As the questions continue without marching answers, it will be recalled that Tchidi Chikere was married to Sophia who is also a Nollywood actress. The couples were blessed with three children. Unfortunately, Tchidi and his wife Sophia got divorced in 2012 due to misunderstanding.

In 2014 he and Nnuella had a traditional marriage in Anambra State, while they were much later joined together in a white wedding in 2018.
