Popular Gospel music singer, songwriter and actress, Mercy Chinwo, during the week surprised her mentor, Sammie Okposo, with a special gift.

It was a Yamaha Montage 8 which the 31 years old music star delivered to the “Wellu Wellu” exponent at his Lagos office through a dispatch.

Sammie Okposo’s joy knew no bounds as he instantly showered prayers on the Rivers State-born songbird who started singing at age 8 in her church children’s choir. His words:

“World please help me pray for Mercy Chinwo. Help me bless her. Help me appreciate her.

“Mercy, as you have honoured and blessed me, Jehovah will embarrass you with honour and blessings.

“Just wait and see the world will hear your testimony, your testimony will shock everybody and it will sound too good to be true.

“Thank you Mercy.”

Yamaha Montage 8 is an 88-keyboard with synthesiser and stand, for high quality music production. It costs N2.2 million. The sophisticated instrument features an 8-operator FM architecture and 128-note polyphony.

Before she became a big star in music, Mercy Chinwo was a back-up singer for Sammie Okposo.

In 2012, she came to the spotlight after winning in the popular talent show ‘Nigerian Idols’.

Mercy is widely known for her hit single “Excess Love” released 2018. The song earned her national and international recognition and sealed her status as one of the best vocalists in the Nigerian Gospel music ministry.

Sammie Okposo also featured her in his6th release for the year 2020 titled “Omeriwo”.
