Veteran Nigerian galala singer, John Asiemo professionally known as Daddy Showkey, has revealed how he went through hard times after he had become popular.

The Delta State-born Ghetto Dance inventor who became popular in the 1990s said at a point he became so broke that he could not boast of N3,000 in his bank account and people were mocking him.

The self-acclaimed ghetto soldier who came out of Ajegunle, a suburb of Lagos State, said he had to delve into other areas to survive.

He is grateful to God that he is beginning to come back to the center stage, though not from musical performances.

“I was a hit many years ago, but at a point I lost everything. That was when I didn’t have even N3000 in my bank account. People started to mock me. They laughed at me that Daddy Showkey was down and out. But God decided to bring me back, and in a big way.

“Look, entertainment is wide. It’s not until you go to stage and perform, or release an album. If you are an entertainer, follow the wide entertainment which includes advertising, music production, commercials, film production and other angles of entertainment.

“Then see if you will not grow. As I am now, I am deep into film production which is the ‘baba’,” he narrated in a video clip he posted on Thursday on his Instagram page.
