Ahead of the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, the state chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is set to organise a one million man-march to solicit support from electorates and other relevant stakeholders for the party.
In a statement made available to journalists in Awka on Monday, the State Chairman of the party, Dr Webster Okonkwo, said the mobilisation movement will involve students, youths who are in need change and other special groups.
He said that the match which will take place third week of April 2021 would include a door-to-door campaign for the party in all the 326 political wards in the state.
According to him, the exercise is geared towards educating and sensitising the electorate to vote for the party’s candidate.
The statement partly reads: “We are organising a one-million stakeholders march across the 326 wards in the 21 local government areas of Anambra state, third week of April, 2021 to garner more support for whoever emerges our party candidate ahead of the elections.
“The march is to show the readiness of the Anambra electorate to usher in a new era in Anambra politics, an era when the generality of our people will have a say in what affects them unlike the present situation where a few preside over the affairs of the greater majority.
“The one million March also is to demonstrate the desire of Ndi-Anambra for FRESH AIR, the people are truly tired of the old parties (PDP, APC, and APGA), they want something fresh and SDP represents that freshness.”
Okonkwo called on eligible voters with desire for accountability, transparency and good governance in the state to join the march.
