Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah representing Kebbi South has tackled the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over his recent comment that the current membership revalidation exercise being conducted by the party’s Interim Committee is contrary to the party’s constitution.
Senator Na’Allah spoke while registering at his Fada unit in Wasagu, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Thursday. He insisted that what the APC is doing nationally is backed by the constitution of the party.
“Let me seize this opportunity to talk about what I was reading in the newspapers when our former chairman Adams Oshiomhole said that this registration revalidation is unconstitutional.
“With due respect, I want to tell him that under our law, power to create is synonymous to power to destroy. The power that creates you can destroy you.
“The constitution of the APC belongs to APC members. As at today I am not aware of any unit in Federal Republic of Nigeria where APC members said they are not going to register because the registration is unconstitutional.
“So by their agreeing to participate in the registration, they have given the constitutional validity to the process. That is what it means,” Na’Allah said.
He cautioned that “people should be a bite careful when they make comments that are of general nature.
“If you do not know the law, don't superintendent over what you do not know.
“So, with due respect, I will want to say that what the APC is doing nationally is backed by the constitution of APC.”
Na’Allah maintained that the APC do have problem of those who along the line have found their way into the party and have inflicted a lot of wounds in the party.
“But I think it is time for us to appeal to them to allow us to nurse these wounds so that the country will benefit from the good intention of the APC,” he said.
He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the good leadership that he has offered to the party and to the country on behalf of the party so far.
Earlier in his remarks, Prof Mohammed Sani Yahaya, leader of the delegation from APC national headquarters, described Na’Allah as one of the critical stakeholders not only in Kebbi State but in the whole nation.
He said Wasagu people should thank God for having a person like Na’Allah representing them in the National Assembly.
“It is by this instant that the Governor of Kebbi State, at his own instant permitted us to come together as a team with his Personal Assistance Farouku Yaro Inabo and other top government and officials and top party executives to see that Na’Allah has registered and revalidated his membership card,” he said.
While commending the peaceful conduct of the exercise, Prof Yahaya advised all stakeholders in all the polling units across the state to emulate Na’Allah and go and register.
