Ugandas presidential hopeful Bobi Wine real name Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert
In Uganda, a 38-year-old singer is challenging the incumbent, Yoweri Museveni, 76, in the country’s presidential election.
Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, known by his stage name Bobi Wine, says he represents the younger generation, while Museveni says he is standing for stability.
As at Thursday (yesterday), votes were still being counted and the final result may not come before Saturday.
But close watchers are of the view that the youthful musician may have an upper hand as he is said to be the preferred candidate.
On Thursday, Nigeria’s music exponent, Innocent Tuface Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, showed solidarity to his Ugandan professional colleague.
He displayed the likely new Uganda leader’s poster on his Instagram page with caption:
“UGANDA STAND UP.
@bobiwine.”
One of 2Baba’s fans said:
“I wish there’ll be a chance for Nigerians to change like this.”
Bobi Wine is running on the platform of Uganda’s National Unity Platform (NUP).
