The leadership of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Ebonyi State has assured to work together with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State in particular and the South-East in general to advance multiparty politics in the zone.
IPAC made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the National Vice Chairman of PDP in the South-East Zone, Chief Ali Odefa, at his Oshiri Onicha Local Government Area country home on Sunday.
Welcoming the IPAC leadership led by its Ebonyi State Chapter Chairman, Comrade Nwogba Morgan Nnaemeka, Chief Odefa said thate PDP was open to collaborate and criticism alike as those are the basic ingredients of democracy.
He assured the IPAC members that the PDP was committed to protecting multiparty democracy in Nigeria.
Odefa, however, called on the political parties to eschew violence in their political activities saying that Nigeria remains a multiparty democracy and that every Nigerian was constitutionally guaranteed the right of freedom of association including that of belonging to any political party of their choice.
Responding, Comrade Nwogba said that IPAC embarked on the courtesy visit to Odefa to felicitate with him on his elevation as the National Vice Chairman of a member party of IPAC, the PDP.
Nwogha noted that PDP though the biggest party in Ebonyi State since Nigeria returned to democratic rule in 1999, the party had remained a partner in the nations building process in Nigeria.
Other senior members of the IPAC delegation include the Chairman NCMP, Njoku Evans; Chairman, ZLP, Obua Sebastine; Chairman of PRP, Comrade Nwode Sunday; and Chairman of ACD, Comrade Splendour Eze, amongst others.
