Except there is divine intervention, violence will most likely break out to further mar the on-going governorship election in Edo State.
Though calm has so far prevailed, a special correspondent of Transport & Business Express covering the election reported that what is existing in the state is the peace of the graveyard.
“There is likely going to be violence later today,” our correspondent said. “The atmosphere is charged amidst claims and counter-claims of rigging.
As earlier reported by Transport & Business Express, Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who is of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), lashed out at Prof. Attahiru Jega, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), after voting around 1:02pm, accusing the commission of laying the foundation for rigging.
Oshiomhole’s main rival, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (retd.) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been boasting that he would demystify the incumbency factor by beating Oshiomhole.
The state remains under the grip of some 3,500 solders despatched by the PDP-controlled federal government.
