Oando, Shell and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) have been honoured for their contributions to the Nigerian oil and gas industry in 2012. Among other award recipients at the event organised by The Oil & Gas Year Nigeria 2012 are Elcrest Exploration and Production Nigeria, the Nigerian Content Development Fund, and David Ige, Group Executive Director of Gas and Power at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Oando emerged as Company of the Year while Shell Petroleum Development Company won an award for Project of the Year; Elcrest Exploration and Production Nigeria for Deal of the Year; the BPE for Policy of the Year; and the Nigerian Content Development Fund for Financial Development of the Year. Ige was named The Oil & Gas Year Nigeria 2012 Man of the Year, showcasing the progress of the federal government’s gas master plan and emergency gas supply plan.
The awards given out Thursday evening, February 21, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja were part of the highlights at the launching of the second annual guide to Nigeria’s energy industry published by Wildcat International titled The Oil & Gas Year Nigeria 2012. The report, produced with the partnership and endorsement of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), examines developments over the entire value chain of the oil and gas industry in 2012.
Ernest Nwapa, executive secretary of NCDMB, and Augustine Olorunsola, director of the DPR, delivered keynote speeches at the book launch. The official partners recognised The Oil & Gas Year publication as the authoritative source of information on the Nigerian hydrocarbons sector for local and international investors. Content partners Afrik Delta Marine and ABB were represented at the event, which also included an awards ceremony honouring the outstanding achievements of six prominent individuals and companies in 2012.
