Ondo 2020 guber frontrunners Akeredolu, Jegede and Ajayi
Results of today’s governorship election in Ondo State have started trickling in, with the three main candidates easily winning their polling units.
Incumbent Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Eyitayo Jegede of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) all tasted victory. Incidentally, analysts have predicted that the poll would largely be a three-horse race.
Akeredolu won the election held in his Polling Unit 6, Ward 5, Isokun, Ijebu Owo, with a lanslide. He scored 413 votes to defeat Jegede, who polled 12 votes; while Ajayi scored zero.
Jegede won his Igbogin/Isikan Ward 2, unit 9, polling 220 votes against 60 recorded by Akeredolu while Ajayi got seven votes.
On his part, Ajayi won in his polling unit in Kiribo in the Ese Odo Local Government Area of the state. He won the Apoi Ward II, Unit 004, Idumado Quarters, Kiribo with 395 votes,
Leaving only 13 votes for Akeredolu while Jegede secured five votes.
Sorting of votes and counting is still ongoing at different polling units in the state as of the time of filing this report.
