BBNaija Season 5 winner Olamilekan Agbeleshie alias Laycon
Not many people rejoicing with Olamilekan Agbeleshie, otherwise known as Laycon, would have missed the opportunity to be a housemate of the Big Brother Nigeria Lockdown Season 5 where he became the overall winner on Sunday, September 27.
Many of his friends and relations had mounted pressure on the 26 years old Lagos State-born Philosophy graduate from the University of Lagos not to participate in the TV reality show.
The fast rising Nigerian singer, songwriter, entertainer best known for his single "Fierce" featuring Chinko Ekun and Reminisce on Monday posted on his Instagram page one of the letters sent to him to drop the idea of going for the BBNaija show.
“Where do we even begin? We remember when our Olamilekan (Ooopsss!) when His Excellency President Olamilekan told us he was going for Big Brother Nigeria.
“It didn’t seem like his kind of thing because the Laycon we know is very reserved (except when he’s with his friends of course).
“We had so many questions. Will you be able to handle it? You know you don't talk. You know you don't like drinking. You know you can't smoke. You don't have muscles o! You can’t go and be taking off shirt.
“You know girls will go for the buff guys in the house and ignore you. You know we don’t know how BBN works. You always say you are misunderstood...”
But Laycon rebuffed all pressure and moved into the house.
He soon became the darling of the viewers who formed a fans club for him called The ICONs.
A day to the final, fans took to the streets to mobilise votes for him to win N85m prize money.
Nollywood celebrates also took to their social media handles, some with video skits and others with several tweets to canvass votes for Laycon.
Many however, remained doubtful that Laycon might carry the day, saying the Big Brother show is always full of surprises.
His song went viral on various social media handles after he was announced as one of the contestants of the BBNaija Lockdown edition.
He finally emerged as the winner and carted away a whopping N85 million and other mouth-watering offers.
