Husband gave Goldie ultimatum —Family friend

Tragic pop diva Goldie (real name Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey) was given an ultimatum by her secret husband to choose between him and Kenya’s Prezzo, the Big Brother Africa (BBA) Star game fellow housemate with whom she fell in love during last year’s episode of the reality show in South Africa, News Express can reveal this afternoon.

A family friend who pleaded anonymity said: “Her husband, Andrew Harvey, is currently based in Malaysia. He moved late last year. He is the one who paid for her whole career . . . videos and all. He spent over N30 million on that.

“He was greatly embarrassed by her BBA outing and even his friends were asking him to dump her but he stayed with her. He had only recently asked her to choose between him and Prezzo . . . she ‘picked’ him. She was in Malaysia some weeks back to see the husband. Why she pretended to be single, I don’t know.”

The late Ekiti Goldie who was known for her wild demeanor died last Thursday night at Reddington Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos, a few hours after she arrived from Los Angeles, USA, where she attended this year’s Grammy Awards.

Her sudden death at 31, allegedly from doping complications, cut short a promising musical career. She joined Kennis Music in 2010 and made her debut with the album Gold. Some of her hit songs include You Know It, Jawo Jawo and DTMB (Don’t Touch My Body).

A talented singer and performer, Goldie (shown in photo with husband on wedding day) received 10 awards, among them Exquisite Lady of the Year, Best Female Artiste Award and City People Best Female Artiste of the Year.
