Just over 24 hours after her sudden and tragic death, photos have emerged online suggesting that tragic pop diva Goldie had a secret husband.
Social networks became abuzz this morning following photos and comments uploaded on Facebook by a white man Andrew Harvey claiming Goldie (real name Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey) as his legally wedded wife and producing wedding photos to back up the claim.
Mr. Harvey’s claims have been attracting positive comments. Reproducing one of the wedding photos on her page, Lagos On Air Personality Cordelia Okpei said: “And Mrs Harvey passed on. Never really worked with Goldie but, that was a shocker. I pray she finds rest and pray the husband finds the strength he needs too.” Some commentators however expressed surprised that the wild performer who died Thursday night in Lagos reportedly from drug complications was ever married.
Goldie, who hailed from Ekiti State and died aged 31, was officially single and had been dating Kenya’s Prezzo whom she met in the BBA7 star game house during last year’s Big Brother Amplified reality show in South Africa.
An obituary announcement by Goldie’s music label boss, Kenny Ogungbe, President of Kennis Music, had also indicated that she was single. The statement said that Goldie, who was pronounced dead on being rushed to Reddington, Victoria Island, Lagos, “is survived by her father, step-mother, brothers and sisters.”
A source at Kenny’s music however confirmed to News Express that Goldie was indeed married.
“Yes, we heard that she was married. That’s where the ‘Harvey’ in her name comes from,” the source said.
Asked why the obituary announcement by Kenny’s Music indicated that she was single, the source said: “We try to downplay that side.”
