Barcelona of Spain and Bayern Munich of Germany on Saturday night romped into the quarter-finals of the Champions League. While Barca recorded a 3-1 win over Napoli that saw them through 4-2 on aggregate, Bayern thrashed hapless Chelsea of England 4-1 to complete a comprehensive 7-1 overall result.
The Catalans will face Bayern Munich in the last eight in Lisbon thanks to first half goals from Clement Lenglet, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Lorenzo Insigne pulled one back from the penalty spot deep into first half stoppage time but the Italians could not launch a comeback.
In Germany, Robert Lewandowski bagged his Champions League-leading 12th and 13th goals this season as Bayern Munich mercilessly flogged Chelsea.
Leading 3-0 from the first leg at Stamford Bridge in February before the coronavirus pandemic halted the competition, treble-chasing Bayern underlined their dominance to progress 7-1 on aggregate.
The Bundesliga and German Cup champions will meet Barcelona next Friday in Lisbon for a place in the semi-finals.
