Edo Deputy Governor, Comrade Shaibu
The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has chided the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, over his quest to become Governor of the State, saying that Edo is too sophisticated and not for the chicken-hearted who can’t stand the demand of public pressure.
According to Shaibu, the task to govern a state is not one of those jobs for the boys and while recognising Edo as a state blessed with sophisticated and educated human resource, stressed that it would be unfortunate to allow the destiny of such an enlightened state to be controlled by those who do not possess the needed political grit.
“With the strategic experience of Godwin Obaseki in politics, policy, diplomacy, practical governance and skill, Edo State can’t trade away such individual for a man who has no capacity.
“On a daily basis the path to Obaseki’s governorship bid keeps illuminating due to various endorsements and support with the belief and confidence that Obaseki knows every policy of government inside and outside.
“Governing a state is not a job for those who delight in sheer vainglory. Edo State is a traditional and culturally robust state with intrinsic ways to define basic qualities and expectations of governance. It is not one of those states where you play down on human capital development,” Comrade Shaibu declared.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Benjamin Atu, to counter the claims of Ize-Iyamu, the Deputy Governor further said that, “the people of Edo State will not vote for political merchant. Ize-Iyamu was rejected in the 2016 general election by his own people and he can’t claim the goodwill that he doesn’t enjoy.
“Talk is cheap. He is free to prophesy upon himself. His vision will tarry but can't come to pass in the September Governorship election.
“Obaseki is coasting to victory in the main election and his performance in office has created apprehension among the opposition camp,” the Edo Deputy Governor stated confidently.
Comrade Shaibu maintained that the good will of an anointed child will determine whether that anointing will work or not, adding that Ize-iyamu has been anointed severally but the anointing has never broken any yoke because he doesn’t have the goodwill of the people.
“Edo can’t be returned to Egypt because the rod of Moses may not be available to part the red sea a second time,” Shaibu said.
