The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, has described herself as the only aspirant with the capacity to end the leadership of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state by defeating candidates from other parties come November, 2021.

She made the declaration in Awka while addressing ward chairmen saying that the November 2021 governorship election is like a war that demands nothing but the best sheriff.

Ekwunife had over the weekend announced her interest to contest the election under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

She said: “Our target is the Government House; we must go with our best, the tested, trusted and okayed to deliver, which is me.

“This election is like a war, this is not ordinary election, we are going to battle to remove the party (APGA) in power and when you are going to such a battle, you don’t need your second best but the best.

“I have the capacity and capability to defeat the candidate of other parties put together.”

The lawmaker insisted that nothing will stand in her way to becoming the next governor of the state if she picks the ticket of the PDP.

She added: “Let us do what will take us to the government house and I'm presenting myself to seek the number one position in the state and I will take PDP to the Agu-Awka government house because I know that I have the capacity and capability to win election for PDP.

“Once I have your ticket, I have won the election for you. If you want Government House, Iyom (Ekwunife) will give you Government House and if I have PDP ticket, let all the political parties in Anambra State present one candidate, I will defeat all of them. I don’t think I have any challenge winning the election.

“All I need is your support and I will be there. I have done it before and will do it again. Give me your ticket, that is all I asked and it is the partnership that will take us to Government House. PDP is lucky that the present governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is not a politician.

“We have been in opposition in the state for 16 years, we cannot continue being in opposition in Anambra State.”

On the issue of zoning of the governorship slot to Anambra South Senatorial zone, Ekwunife said that the idea mostly favoured her because that was the district of her birth before she got married to a man in Anambra Central zone.

“Women are dual domiciled. I am from Abambra South and married to Anambra Central. A woman can represent her people either from her place of birth or her husband’s place.

“Some people said there us zoning. PDP said there is no zoning, but if Anambra people say there is zoning, it favours me most,” she stated.
