Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), has vowed that he will make corrupt people to vomit their loot if Nigerians give him their mandate during the February 14, 2015 presidential ballot.

Speaking yesterday when his campaign train stopped over in President Goodluck Jonathan’s home state, Bayelsa, Buhari promised not to condone corruption as the present administration is allegedly doing. The former Head of State vowed that under his government anyone caught stealing public funds would be compelled to return it.

The APC flagbearer lambasted Jonathan for his administration’s failure to develop Bayelsa and promised to reverse the trend if he wins the forthcoming election.

Addressing a mammoth crowd in the state capital, Yenagoa, Buhari noted that Bayelsa is blessed with suitable climate and fertile land for large-scale agriculture which will be harnessed to drive economic development under his presidency. He also promised to fix the power sector, describing it as critical to unlock the potentials of Nigerian entrepreneurs. Another area which the former military ruler said would receive priority attention from his administration is skills acquisition and empowerment schemes for the teeming unemployed youths in the state and across the country.

Buhari urged registered voters in the state to collect their Permanent Voters Cards before the February 14 presidential election.

Speaking earlier, Governor Chibuike Amaechi of neighbouring Rivers State expressed satisfaction with the huge turnout at the rally and expressed optimism that APC will be victorious at all levels in the forthcoming general elections.

Amaechi, who heads Buhari’s campaign organisation, said that the next elections will be merit-based and urged the people to protect their votes. He wondered loudly why Jonathan could not develop his home state, assuring that an APC government under Buhari would reverse the trend.

According to Amaechi, “In the case of Rivers they said he refused to develop Rivers because he is quarrelling with me but let me ask you, is your son Jonathan quarrelling with (Governor) Dickson? Charity begins at home. Why do they say Charity begins at home? We expect Bayelsa to be a model state.”

Also speaking, Bayelsa Chairman of APC, Chief Timipa Orunimighe, noted that the successful hosting of presidential rally marked the beginning of change in the history of the state.

The rally was graced by several other APC heavyweights, among them the national Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and Bayelsa APC Leader, Chief Timipre Sylva, the immediate past governor of the state.
