Ahead of the Monday, December 8, governorship primaries, Delta State Deputy Governor, Prof Amos Utuama has appealed to the state delegates.

Utuama, a governorship aspirant, urged the delegates to make Delta State and its future their focus and be properly guided as they cast their votes for the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2015 general election.

The deputy governor told a large crowd of youths who visited him at his Otu-Jeremi country home yesterday that he is ready to take the state to greater height.

He expressed his joy at the solidarity visit and promised to consolidate on the current development of the state.

He appealed to them to go back and prevail on the delegates to make Delta their focus by voting for competence, experience, character, accountability, integrity and the man they know.

“They should not focus on sentiment. There is a lot of sentiment out there now. Focus on Delta and its future. “Tell them to vote for competence, experience, character, accountability, integrity and the man they know.

“Tell them to vote for me on Monday because I represent these qualities, their dreams and aspirations. It is not about me as a person. It is about our state and its future,” he said.

He added that governor Emmanuel Uduaghan had performed well, hence the need to build on his performance with him as his successor. He added that the state needs a governor who will be able to unite Delta State further and also respect its diverse interests.

“Our state needs a Governor who has every corner of the State in his heart and who can pursue a broad development agenda that will serve the interest of all Deltans, irrespective of where you are coming from. I believe I fit best, the bill of the kind of governor Delta State desires at this moment,” he said.

The youths, speaking through their leader, Comrade Okis Etaghene, pledged to carry out the request for the good of the state, admitting that voting on sentiment will retard the developmental strides of the state.

“Your Excellency, we have heard you. We are going to do just that because voting on sentiment will retard the developmental pace of the state. We need round pegs in round holes and you are the most qualified for the position of the next governor of the state,” Okis said.
