The new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Services (ABS), Mr. Uche Nworah, has vowed to reposition the organisation, using ICT training for staff as one of his tools.

Speaking in Awka during an interactive forum between the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and chief executives of companies and industries in the Anambra State capital, Nworah noted that staff of the state-owned radio and television station were yet to get in tune with ICT and its benefits. He assured that every effort would be geared towards realising the goal of making the station to attain international standard.

Nworah explained that the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, is interested in re-branding the organisation to make it a world-class, both in the structure and training of the staff to enable them discharge their services to Anambra people in the best possible way.

He disclosed that the forum had exposed him to the various ways he could partner with ITF in order to enhance productivity and get the best out of his staff.

The new Managing Director called on the staff of the establishment to get ready to work in order to place ABS in the top league of electronic media organisations in the country.

“Hard work pays and I am very serious and ready to give every basic training required to boost productivity in this station. All I am asking every staff is to be committed to the work and put in your very best for a new ABS to be achieved,” he said.

Speaking during the forum, ITF Awka Area Manager, Mrs. Linda Egbuonu, promised a cordial relationship between her organisation and ABS for maximum productivity.

She advised the chief executives of state-owned establishments to ensure that their employers attend professional trainings at intervals in order to fulfill their partnership quota to qualify for 50 per cent refund of resources they spend on staff training

Mr. Chidume Oranu, Chief Executive of Krisoral Group, who spoke on behalf of other chief executives, said that it was a necessity for both employers and employees to undergo ICT training as it would help boost the productivity of work in any organisation.

He advised the chief executives to invest on the training of their staff as it would not be a waste of resources but would add value to their organisations if well utilised.
