And today he finally bowed out in a blaze of glory, beating his chest as he handed over the reins of power to the new Governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

Speaking at Obiano’s swearing-in ceremony in Awka, the state capital, Obi told the world that he was handing over a state that is most financially stable among its contemporaries. He assured Anambrarians that he was handing over the state to a competent successor who will continue from where he stopped to deliver the dividend of democracy the people.

“When I took the oath of office in 2007, I drove to the venue in my car, I also came from my house because then; the state had no Governor’s Lodge, but today I can confidently say that I have built a Governor’s Lodge. As I speak with you now, we have purchased a brand new Toyota Jeep for the Governor to enable him commence his constitutional duty with ease,” Obi said.

Obi had recently disclosed that his government had left a whopping N75 billion for the incoming administration to commence administrative and developmental projects, explaining that he had exhibited high level of prudence in handling the funds of the state.
