Todd Rebello Captures Biggest Stack At Day 1b Of 2014 WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open

Skilled card sharks were present in this prestigious poker event, hoping to take home huge amounts of cash.

The 2014 World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship opened in Atlantic City last Monday. Players competed in Day 1b of the $3,500 re-entry tournament. There were 807 documented entries in this day and an estimated 450 players were not eliminated when the event concluded. Todd Rebello successfully collected 229,825 worth of chips, the biggest stack of the day, and was allowed to come back for Day 2. Laz Hernandez from Day 1a is still the current chip leader with a total of 258,175.

The combination of the 422 entries from Day 1a and the entries on this day were summed up at 1,229 entries overall. This total produced a first place prize worth $842,379, an amount worth over $100,000 than the $730,053 pot which Andy Hwang was able to collect when he won last year?s tournament.

Because the event was filled with many noticeable players, it was not surprising to find out that many familiar names managed to make it to Day 2. As partypoker.com's Mike Sexton was on commentary for this event, he mentioned some of the card sharks who advanced to the next round. These include James Woods (16,200 chips), Jon Aguiar (28,775 chips), Ebony Kenney (39,500 chips), Andy Frankenberger (56,450 chips), Jeff Madsen (79,650 chips), Faraz Jaka (82,200 chips), Kathy Liebert (88,500 chips), Caufman Talley (93,275 chips), Eric Baldwin (93,850 chips), Isaac Baron (95,975 chips), and Todd Rebello (98,550 chips). Another player who will come back on Tuesday is DJ MacKinnon, who has a stack of 74,700 chips. His Day 1b experience was filled with drama, as he came back from his supper break to discover that his stack of chips vanished from the poker table. Following the review and discussion of the security camera footage, it was discovered that his part of the pot had been accidentally pulled by another player. Prior to his supper break, McKinnon (who was seated at Seat 1) stood up and observed the last hand. Robert Merulla (who was at Seat 2) moved all in, while Allison Schultz (seated at Seat 4) was thinking of a call. She eventually announced it and lost the round, letting Merulla take in a huge pot and taking her off the game. The security footage showed that the dealer pushed everything to Merulla, accidentally pushing McKinnon?s stack as well. At least the amount that McKinnon had before the supper break was returned to him.
