Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s first son, Ozonna Soludo, has made his official entry into Nigeria’s music market with a performance at a culture festival in Abuja.

The performance, held as part of Nigeria’s Independence Day celebrations, represents a new phase in Ozonna’s music career, following more than a decade of professional work and performances, largely in the United Kingdom and United States.

Ozonna began his professional music career in 2013 with the release of his debut promotional single, “Me and You on Top,” which gained attention and coverage from music blogs in the United Kingdom.

In 2015, he released his five-track EP, “Believe It to See It,” featuring songs including “Wonderland” and “We Glow.” He also performed in London alongside established international artists and alternative acts, including Crystal Fighters and Kyla La Grange.

In recent years, Ozonna has shifted his sound towards Afro-fusion, releasing “Take It Slow” in 2023 and “Big Flex” in 2025.

The Abuja performance therefore marks his first major move to establish his music within the Nigerian market, bringing his experience from the international music scene to a local audience.

The 32-year-old musician, songwriter and content creator studied at the Institute of Contemporary Music in London. He has also built a following through music, dance and lifestyle content on social media.

His move into the Nigerian market has attracted attention online, with social media users expressing different views about his Abuja performance, including criticism of his delivery and songwriting.

Ozonna has previously spoken about criticism of his public image. In a 2025 interview with content creator Goodybag, he said negative opinions would not make him change who he is.

The musician, who has spent much of his life abroad, is now seeking to establish a stronger presence in Nigeria as he continues his career with an Afro-fusion sound. (Arise News)
