Boot Party and Young Progressives Party (YPP) and others have insisted that the legal action challenging the eligibility of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, remains intact before the Federal High Court.

The parties said the proceedings, with Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/989/2026 and Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/884/2026, are currently before the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division.

A statement jointly signed by co-plaintiffs in the suits, Architect Akerele John and Hon. Adeyemi Oluwaseyifunmi, maintained that the legal action had not been withdrawn and remained before the court, noting that the issues raised in the suits were yet to be determined judicially.

The suits were primarily filed by Akerele and others, adding that the defendants/respondents include Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Solomon Adeola, the APC, the Chairman of Guardian Newspapers Limited and the Inspector-General of Police, among others.

The plaintiffs noted that the application before the court is a Motion on Notice brought pursuant to Order 19 Rules 3 and 8 of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, as well as the inherent jurisdiction of the court and Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution on fair hearing.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the legal action has not been withdrawn and remains a matter before the competent court.”

The plaintiffs urged political actors, media organisations and members of the public not to present the matter as though the court had already reached a final determination on the issues in dispute.

They also called on all parties and stakeholders to allow the judicial process to run its course and respect the authority of the court. (The Nation)
