The #Endbadgovernance Movement on Friday revealed plans for a one-day nationwide protest over insecurity, hunger in the country and anti-poor policies of the Tinubu administration.

The movement also stated that “Nigeria today is bleeding. Enough is enough. The Nigerian people must now brace up for decisive action.”

In a statement dated April 10th, 2026 and signed by the Movement Coordinator, Lagos State Chapter, Hassan Taiwo Soweto and Secretary, Oloye Adegboyega Adeniji, called on Nigerians to arise, organize and mobilize for a one-day nationwide protest rally to demand an end to insecurity, hunger, and all anti-poor policies of the Tinubu administration.

“We recognize the daily suffering of millions facing crushing economic hardship as a direct result of the neoliberal policies imposed by the regime of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “The removal of fuel subsidy, continuous hikes in fuel prices, and the total collapse of power supply have plunged working people into unprecedented poverty, hunger, and despair.

“Nigeria today is bleeding. Hundreds are killed in recurring attacks, dozens massacred in Plateau communities, over a dozen in Kaduna in recent incidents, and repeated killings across Benue, Zamfara, Borno, and Kwara States. Yet, the government remains completely clueless on how to end this carnage.”

The group said while Nigerians die unprotected, the political elite move about with battalions of security, shielding themselves and their families from the very dangers they have failed to confront.

It further noted that the hypocrisy and insensitivity of the ruling class are too glaring to ignore.

“The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, reportedly visited attacked communities in an armoured vehicle, protecting himself while the people he governs are left defenseless. “Even more disgraceful, the President chose to address grieving victims from the safety of an airport rather than stand with them in their communities. This is not just cowardice; it is a complete betrayal of leadership. Clearly, the regime is more preoccupied with retaining power in 2027 than with saving lives today.”

The movement described the economic situation in the country as equally catastrophic, adding, “the deliberate policy of handing over fuel refining to private interests while abandoning public refineries has ensured that Nigerians pay exorbitant, internationally-influenced prices for fuel in an oil-producing country. “This has crippled small-scale businesses, increased the cost of goods and services, and deepened suffering and hunger across the land. The collapse of the power supply has further compounded this crisis, forcing businesses and households to rely on expensive alternatives just to survive.”

The movement warned that enough is enough and called on Nigerians to brace up for decisive action.

“We call on workers, traders, market women, students, artisans, and all oppressed Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion, including trade unions and civil society groups to begin immediate mobilization in communities, workplaces, campuses, and markets for a one-day nationwide mass protest rally.

“The aim of this protest rally which is will be peaceful, properly organized and held at all state capitals across the country is to demonstrate that we can no longer tolerate the current state of anomie that the Tinubu government has plunged into Nigeria.”

The #Endbadgovernsnce movement appealed for unity by all civil society groups, trade unions, students’ unions, faith-based groups and pro-masses organizations to make the nationwide protest rally a reality.

According to the group, “Over the next few days, the #Endbadgovernance movement Lagos state would embark on consultations and series of meetings with progressive and pro-masses groups across the country at the end of which a date agreed by all for the one-day nationwide mass protest rallies will be announced.”

It urged the working class and youth to stand firm and stay united, noting, “this is a defining moment. Silence and inaction will only embolden those who profit from our suffering. Nigerians must rise together, united, organized, and determined.”

Meanwhile, the #EndBadGovernance movement extends its condolences to the families of the thousands of Nigerians who have been brutally slaughtered across the country by terrorists and armed gangs, stating, “communities are being wiped out in a relentless wave of violence. We stand in solidarity with all victims and salute the courage and endurance of ordinary Nigerians who continue to survive under unbearable conditions.” (The Sun)
