Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is facing a N1bn lawsuit over alleged harassment, cyberbullying, defamation and threats directed at Mrs Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, a lawyer representing his embattled baby mama, Sophie Momodu.

A pre-action notice dated February 24, 2026, and issued by Punuka Attorneys and Solicitors, counsel to Mrs Enedah, accused the music star of orchestrating a sustained campaign of abuse following court proceedings at the High Court of Lagos State.

The letter, addressed to Adeleke, is titled: “HARASSMENT, THREATS TO LIFE, CYBERBULLYING, AND DEFAMATION OF MRS. EBELECHUKWU ENEDAH BY MR. DAVID ADEDEJI ADELEKE AND HIS COHORTS – PRE ACTION NOTICE.”

Punika stated: “We are Counsel to Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, (hereinafter referred to as ‘Our Client’), on whose unequivocal instruction, we NOTIFY you of her intention to commence legal action against you.”

According to the document, the dispute arose from proceedings in Suit No: LD/1587PMC/2024 — David Adeleke v. Sophia Momodu — before the High Court of Lagos State.

The firm alleged that on February 12, 2026, during a hearing, Adeleke “conducted yourself in a manner wholly unbecoming of a party before a court of law,” became “aggressive and verbally abusive towards Our Client,” and that his conduct “deteriorated to such a degree that physical restraint became necessary to prevent further disruption to the proceedings.”

It further claimed that although the court directed Adeleke to apologise in open court, “your conduct, which directive you disobeyed.”

Punika alleged that matters escalated the following day when an Instagram account identified as @cutie_juls allegedly published posts featuring the lawyer’s photograph, “publicly identifying her person and broadcasting her identity to your vast online audience.”

The letter stated: “The consequences were swift and severe. Our Client was immediately subjected to a torrent of abusive text messages, threatening telephone calls, and explicit threats to her safety and the safety of her family.”

It also accused Adeleke of personally publishing posts on his verified Instagram and X accounts, tagging the lawyer and making what it described as false assertions about her competence and conduct in court.

Among the statements cited as libellous was: “@belachukwu … I disgraced you in the courtroom ..I was teaching you your work you couldn’t even take it, and then went on to mention My Son .. like I said in the courtroom, I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever… and u were still smiling smirking .. u are a wicked human being, UR THE WORST LAWYER EVER I BEAT YOU IN COURT! YOU ARE NOT.”

The firm argued that the publication, allegedly seen by over 50 million followers across social media platforms, was “a deliberate and targeted attack on Mrs. Enedah in the discharge of her professional duties.”

It added: “To publicly brand a lawyer of her standing as ‘THE WORST LAWYER EVER’ is not the expression of grievance. It is a deliberate and malicious act of reputation destruction.”

The notice further accused Adeleke of identifying and publicly attacking individuals he “mistakenly assumed to be her relatives and children,” including gospel singer Tosin Bee, thereby exposing them to threats and ridicule.

Punika maintained that legal practitioners “are entitled to discharge their professional duties without intimidation, harassment, or orchestrated public hostility,” stressing that proceedings concerning child welfare “are not fit for public commentary, sensationalism, or social media spectacle.”

In its demands, the firm called on Adeleke to immediately cease and desist from further commentary relating to the matter while the suit remains sub judice.

It also demanded that he issue “clear and unequivocal public statement across all your verified social media platforms (Instagram, X, etc.), expressly withdrawing all prior derogatory, defamatory, and abusive statements, apologizing for the harm caused.”

Additionally, the firm insisted that Adeleke publish “a formal written apology to Mrs. Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah (tagging her handle), retracting the defamatory statements and acts of cyberbullying directed against her,” with the apology to appear on all his verified platforms and in at least two widely circulated national daily newspapers in Nigeria.

The pre action notice signals the commencement of legal proceedings should the demands not be met, with the claimant seeking ?1bn in damages over the alleged reputational and emotional harm. (AriseNews TV)
