Some political aspirants, who are natives of Obosi in Anambra state, have praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for deploying their staff members to Obosi in order for them to carry out the voters’ registration exercise.

They expressed their appreciation of INEC efforts to ensure that nobody in the Obosi ancient kingdom is disenfranchised on the grounds of their non-possession of voters’ cards.

Obosi, an ancient kingdom, which is the home town of revered international personages like Chief Mike Ajegbo, Chief Osita Chidoka, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, and others, has the greatest number of registered voters in Idemili North LGA of Anambra state.

So, not unexpectedly, an Obosi-born political aspirant, Hon. Obinna Igboebisi, who is aspiring to represent Idemili North constituency in the Anambra state Assembly, described INEC’s registration of voters at Obosi as a commendable effort, and a crucial step in strengthening our democracy.

“I commend INEC for bringing the voters registration exercise to our community.

“The voters’ registration exercise is a crucial step in strengthening our democracy and ensuring that every eligible citizen has the opportunity to participate in the electoral process.

“We should know that a credible election begins with proper registration,” Igboebisi,” said.

More so, Engr. Eric Anyamene, who is a philanthropist jostling to represent Idemili North and South federal constituency in the House of Representatives, described the voters’ registration exercise as a democratic opportunity offered to people to acquire voters’ cards.

He noted that our acquisition of voters’ cards is central to our performance of our civic duties and responsibilities.

“The INEC continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise, which took place between February 17 and 19 in Obosi areas is a critical democratic opportunity for our people to obtain voters’ cards.

“I view it as more than a routine administrative process; it is a call to civic responsibility.

“For Obosi, which has more than 72, 000 registered voters, the exercise is an opportunity for us to shore up our number and strengthen our collective voice.

“This exercise is free, lawful, and designed for our convenience. I am urging people to take advantage of it now. So register, transfer, or correct your details as required.

“Let me emphasize this: no PVC, no voice,” Anyamene said.

And the councilor for the Obosi ward, Hon. Obichukwu Anyafulu, provided buses for the conveyance of people to INEC office at Ogidi, Anambra state.

He, also, called on both indigenes and non-indigenes of Obosi, who live in the Obosi area, to participate in the voters’ registration exercise if their voters’ cards are lost, or if their voters’ cards are damaged, or if they want to transfer their voting centre to their new area of residence.
