Tension is brewing in Southern Kaduna following allegations by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) of arbitrary arrests, brutality, and extra-judicial killings of its members in parts of the state.

The association called on Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, and the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, to order a thorough investigation into the allegations to prevent a breakdown of the peace recently recorded in the area.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Kaduna State Chairman of MACBAN, Abdulhamid Musa Albarka, the group urged the state government and military authorities to probe what it described as an “ugly trend” in parts of Southern Kaduna.

The affected local government areas listed in the statement include Jema’a, Jaba, Kagarko, Kachia, Kaura, Kauru, Sanga, and Zangon Kataf.

MACBAN cited an incident in Kajim Village, Kaura Local Government Area, on January 12, 2026, where it alleged that houses belonging to Fulani herders were invaded and four members arrested.

Those arrested were identified as Yusuf Musa, Auwal Adamu, Kamal Abdullah, and Abubakar Ahmad.

The association claimed that when parents of the arrested youths sought access to see their wards, they were denied by security agencies.

“We have so far petitioned the state government on the need for the governor, Senator Uba Sani, to come to our rescue by probing the growing tension in the area,” the statement read.

While commending the efforts of the state government and security agencies in addressing security challenges, the group alleged that “some bad elements are bent on sabotaging their efforts.”

It appealed for an independent probe into the activities of some local government chairmen in the affected areas, alleging that their actions were worsening the situation.

MACBAN also called for compensation for families of alleged victims and urged its members to remain calm and law-abiding while authorities investigate the claims. (Nigerian Tribune)
