The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspected logistics suppliers to the Lakurawa terrorist group, recovering arms, ammunition and a locally fabricated bulletproof vest.

Kebi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bashir Usman, confirmed this in a statement made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, “The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a major operational success in its sustained efforts to curb terrorism, banditry and other violent crimes through intelligence-led policing.

“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Kangiwa Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Hamza Aliyu and Aliyu Ahmadu, both males, on February 7, 2026, at about 3pm, along the border axis for their alleged involvement in supplying logistics to suspected Lakurawa terrorists.

“The suspects were found in possession of thirty-one (31) parcels of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.”

In a related development, SP Usman said operatives of the Special Tactical Team, in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, arrested one Sani Bature, alias ‘Nage,’ and Rabiu Bature during a separate operation in Bagudo Local Government Area.

He disclosed that “The operation led to the recovery of one AK-49 rifle, six hundred and eleven (611) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, and a locally fabricated charmed bulletproof vest.

“The suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations”.

Usman added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Hadeija, reiterated the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and called on members of the public to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information. (The Sun)
