Members of the Association of Landowners in Winhomes Estate, OkunAjah, yesterday formally took lawful possession of their respective parcels of land within the estate, located along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal corridor.

The landowners said ownership issues surrounding the property had been resolved, placing them in a position to take legal possession of their investments.

Speaking to journalists at a briefing organised in collaboration with the Coalition of Civil Society for Good Governance, the group said it was necessary to correct lingering misinformation arising from a past dispute involving Winhomes Estate Global Services Limited and the Federal Government of Nigeria.

They said the ownership dispute was conclusively determined by the Federal High Court Lagos Division in Suit No. FHC/F/CS/1803/2024, adding that in a composite ruling delivered on November 21, 2025, Justice Akintayo Aluko held that Winhomes Estate Global Services Limited had divested itself of all proprietary interests in the land by selling it to third parties and had therefore ceased to be the bona fide owner.

According to the association, the court further ruled that, having divested its interests, the company lacked the locus standi to institute or maintain any action concerning the land, leading to the suit being struck out.

“In view of this clear judicial pronouncement, we reaffirm that members of the Association of Landowners in Winhomes Estate are the lawful and bona fide owners of the land, having validly purchased the same and holding all relevant title documents,” the group said.

The landowners also announced the commencement and resumption of development activities on the estate. (Guardian)
