Kano State Hisbah Board says it received a total of 12,446 complaints from members of the public across the state’s 44 local government areas in 2025.

The Deputy Commander of the board, Dr. Mujahiddeen Aminuddeen, who disclosed this on Friday in a statement noted that the complaints covered a wide range of social, civil and criminal issues.

According to him, out of the total number of complaints received during the year under review, the board successfully resolved 1,908 cases at its headquarters in Kano as well as across its offices in the 44 local government areas.

Aminuddeen further revealed that the Hisbah Board recovered more than ₦145.4 million on behalf of residents through its debt recovery and child support mediation services.

He also said the board carried out nine major operations within the year, which led to the arrest of 132 persons at various locations within and outside the Kano metropolis.

“The board conducted nine major operations during the year, during which its personnel arrested 132 people at different locations within Kano and outside the state capital,” the statement read.

The deputy commander added that the board recorded 4,246 criminal cases at its headquarters and local government offices, which were subsequently transferred to the Nigeria Police and other relevant agencies for further investigation and prosecution.

Reiterating the board’s commitment to promoting moral conduct and social justice, Aminuddeen urged ministries, departments and agencies, as well as other stakeholders, to continue to cooperate with the Hisbah Board in curbing violations of Shari’a law in Kano State.

He stressed that sustained collaboration remained key to maintaining peace, order and adherence to religious and societal norms across the state.
