The office of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has reiterated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was duly served with a valid court order, dismissing any claims to the contrary.

In a statement issued by Special Assistant on Media TO Malami, Mohammed Bello Doka, on Thursday, the office stated that the court order was lawfully served on the anti-graft agency shortly after it was granted.

According to the statement, a court bailiff, Mr. Abiodun Kolawole, attempted to serve the order on the EFCC a day after it was issued. However, officials of the commission allegedly refused to receive the document.

The statement emphasised that refusal to accept a court process does not invalidate service, noting that such action neither weakens the court’s authority nor excuses non-compliance with its order.

It further disclosed that later the same evening, the law firm of Okutepa, SAN, received the court order, a development the Malami office said clearly established that the EFCC had notice and was fully aware of the court’s directive through its legal representatives.

“The service on EFCC’s counsel conclusively confirms awareness and notice, which is sufficient in law,” the statement said.

The clarification comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving the EFCC, with the Malami office urging strict adherence to due process and respect for the rule of law. (TRIBUNE)
