A lawyer, Chartered Arbitrator, and Mediator, Adebowale Owolabi Olufeko, who recently declared his intention to contest for the Awujale of Ijebuland, promising a unity, growth and cultural renewal.

Olufeko made this known while addressing journalists in Ijebu-Ode, describing himself as a bonafide candidate of the Ruling House.

Olufeko, a descendant of Bubiade Family of Fusengbuwa House, said he is vying for the throne based on his duty, antecedent, loyalty, experience, and commitment to Ijebuland.

He said that as an attorney, mediation of advocate, and Chartered Fellow Arbitrator, he is ready to strengthen the socio-economic development and fabric of Ijebuland as well as elevating the Ojude Oba Festival into a greater cultural and economic global carnival.

He said his ambition could be traced to the service to humanity. "I am offering myself because I believe our people deserve a future that is peaceful, prosperous, and united.

"I will continue empowering youths, artisans, professionals, families, and the vulnerable-work I am already actively engaged in, I will also attract local and international development opportunities, leveraging my global exposure and networks."

He noted that the Fusengbuwa Ruling House is next in line to produce the Awujale following transition, describing the Awujale stool as the soul of Ijebuland.

"In fact, Awujale throne is a sacred trust. It carries the spirit and history of our people, and it must be protected with honour and clear vision," he said.

He unveiled a plan that he described as bold, modern, and rooted in Ijebu values, noting that he would explore all his local and international experiences and partnerships to develop the Ijebuland.

He promised to preserve and uphold rich culture, customs, and traditions of Ijebuland, noting that Ijebus were renowned horse riders, and it is time to establish a Polo Club, to be named after late Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Awujale, Ogbagba II.

Olufeko said he would work collaboratively with Chiefs, Kingmakers, Governments, as well as all stakeholders for enduring peace and development, and serve as a worthy custodian of ancestral heritage.

He pledged to serve with humanity, wisdom, composure, inclusiveness, and integrity, noting that the pursuit of the creation of Ijebu state would be his top priority.

He appreciated the Olori Ebis, especially those who have preserved the dignity, harmony, and unity of the Bubiade Royal Family over the years, as well as the respected Kings of Ijebuland, the Otunbas, Chiefs, and all custodians of Ijebu customs and heritage for their steadfast, loyalty and support to the late Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba (Dr) Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

Olufeko also commended the Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland, Olo'roogun (Dr) Sonny Kuku, for serving diligently as the Regent of Ijebuland during this sacred interregnum, also appreciated the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the remarkable infrastructural, educational, cultural, and economic developments brought to Ijebuland.

He further expressed confidence in the future of the kingdom, "with unity and collective effort, Ijebuland will rise to a new level of greatness," he said.
