The Niger Delta Youth For Good Governance (NDYFGG) has urged the House Committee on Public Accounts to reconsider its approach and withdraw the threat of arrest against Dr. Dennis Burtu Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

The group said instead, implored the Committee to focus on addressing the pressing issues of insecurity in Nigeria and the lack of transparency in the utilization of State Security Votes.

It stated that PAP was established to facilitate the Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) of ex-militants, with the aim of curbing violence and fostering sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.

This was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Comrade Lucky O.O Ukueku, National President of the group and made available to journalists.

The statement was also contained a letter addressed to the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Public Accounts, Hon. Bamidele Salam.

Part of the group's statement ready" Its core objectives include:

*De-escalation and Stability:* Mitigating violent agitations in the oil-rich region.

*Disarmament:* Encouraging the surrender of illegal weapons.

"Reintegration:* Rehabilitating and empowering ex-militants through vocational training, education, job placements, and entrepreneurial support.

"Under Dr. Otuaro’s leadership, PAP has achieved significant milestones, including the deployment of a record number of beneficiaries to universities in Nigeria and abroad, and robust engagement with ex-agitators in human capital development initiatives across the Niger Delta.

"We, the beneficiaries, express our satisfaction with his stewardship. We believe that the current scrutiny of PAP is misguided and driven by self-serving interests, rather than a genuine concern for the welfare of the Niger Delta.

"We respectfully suggest that the Committee redirect its efforts towards investigating the mismanagement of security votes by some state governors, as the region seeks peace and progress.

"In the words of a wise adage, "Remove the log in your own eye before addressing the speck in someone else’s." NDYFGG will not stand idly by. We call on the Presidency to exercise its oversight and caution the Committee.

"Should this call be unheeded, we will organize a peaceful protest at the National Assembly, in the interest of maintaining Nigeria’s peaceful environment.
