At least, 1,000 students from both public and private tertiary institutions in Abia state are expected to participate in the first Abia Tertiary Sports Fiesta, which will begin on November 25 and ends on November 28, 2025.

The state Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Uche Eme Uche, who made the disclosure, said the fiesta, organised by the state Ministry of Tertiary Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, would feature 26 different sporting activities.

He said the aim of the fiesta was not only to unite the students, but also to promote extra-curricular activities among the youth, and harness their potential into useful endeavours.

Governor Otti, according to Uche, has approved the sum of N500,000 for each participating school to enable them prepare adequately for the competition.
