The Federal Government through the Ministry of Works, has announced the approval of over N1.04 trillion for road projects across the country.

David Umahi, minister of works, in a statement issued to journalists at the weekend said that the Federal Executive Council of Nigeria, has in its meeting of 6th November 2025, approved the release of funds for projects including: 163km Sokoto?Badagry Coastal Superhighway Section 3 (Badagry ? Ogun-Oyo border) worth N553 billion (N3.39 bn/km, full concrete); Ota?Idiroko Section I at N98 billion & flyover at N23 billion; Ijebu Igbo?Etapa?Owoyen Road 37 km at N53 billion; Lagos?Ibadan Expressway Phase II Section II Fresh award: N43.73 billion includes underpasses, ramps, and side roads; Ilorin?Omu Aran?Egba Road Phase I 31 km at N43 billion.

Others are: Wasasa?Turunku?Mararaba Phase II 42 km; Kaduna at N30.23 billion; Enugu?Onitsha Road Phase I, 35 km (OP Junction ? Anambra border) at N28.47 billion total; Mushin?NNPC?Apapa?Oshodi Dualisation14.4 km, Lagos ports access N19.09 billion and East?West Road (restructured) PH?Warri axis + 3 flyovers + 2 bridges Inherited at N156 billion package.

The minister explained that improvements in design, difficult terrain, and inflation, has led to changes in cost, noting that the cost of reinforcement steel has increased to over N1.1 million per ton.

Delta, and Abia States have assumed responsibility for financing and executing certain federal road projects within their jurisdictions.

This initiative for him is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on the federal government and expediting the completion of these projects.
